Format

The GMAT test is broken down into three sections:

  • Analytical Writing Assessment
  • Quantitative Section
  • Verbal Section

The first section consists of an analytical writing task. The remaining two sections (Quantitative and Verbal) consist of multiple-choice questions delivered in a computer-adaptive format. Questions in these sections are dynamically selected as you take the test. The multiple-choice questions will adjust to your ability level making your test unique.

The test has four sections and will take up to four hours to complete:

  • Section 1: Analytical Writing Assessment – Issue Task – 30 minutes
  • Section 2: Analytical Writing Assessment – Argument Task – 30 minutes
  • Section 3: Quantitative – 37 Multiple Choice Questions – 75 minutes. This section contains two question types – Data Sufficiency and Problem Solving
  • Section 4: Verbal – 41 Multiple Choice Questions – 75 minutes. This section contains three question types - Reading Comprehension, Critical Reasoning, and Sentence Correction.
